Spectrum To Be Demolished Next Week

It’s official. The Spectrum will face the wrecking ball on Tuesday, November 23 at 12 p.m. as demolition of the legendary arena commences with a free, open-to-the public viewing party which also includes a block party with dollar hot dogs and dollar soft drinks.

Some of the most dynamic professional athletes to ever play in the Spectrum will attend the demolition ceremony, including Philadelphia Flyers alums Bernie Parent and Bob Clarke, and Philadelphia 76ers alum Julius “Dr. J” Erving.

The public is invited to watch as Snider signals Geppert Bros. Inc, of Colmar, PA, to strike the 43-year-old former home of the Flyers and 76ers with the wrecking ball.

Philadelphia Soul To Hold Open Tryouts

Do you have what it takes to be a professional football player?

You can find out this Saturday, Oct. 30th at the Eagles NovaCare Practice Facility as the Philadelphia Soul will be holding open tryouts. The tryouts begin at 7:30am.

Sixers Tickets On Sale Tomorrow!

Individual tickets for the Philadelphia 76ers 2010-11 season will go on sale tomorrow online and through the Sixers box office.

This year Andre Iguodala, rookie Evan Turner and the Sixers will open up against the Miami Heat's new triumvirate of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on Wednesday, Oct. 27th at the Wells Fargo Center!

The on-sale will begin tomorrow at 10:00am.

John Cena Stars in WWE Monday Night RAW

John Cena will compete for the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Sheamus and Randy Orton when WWE Monday Night RAW comes to the Wells Fargo Center on Nov. 29th!

Other wrestlers featured at the event will be: The Miz, The Nexus,R Truth, John Morrison, Evan Bourne, Mark Henry, The Hart Dynasty, Ted DiBiase and Melina, Maryse.

There will be an exclusive presale for the event held on the venue's Facebook page tomorrow.

Michael Buble On Sale Now; DMB On Sale Tomorrow

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday mark a busy weekend for the Wells Fargo Center. Not only are Elmo, Big Bird and the rest of the Sesame Street gang in town for Elmo's Healthy Heroes, but this morning tickets to see Michael Buble went on sale online and at the venue box office.

Buble will be performing for one night only on Nov. 24th as part of his "Crazy Love" tour to promote his new album.

Bert Visits The Wells Fargo Center

Bert stopped by the Wells Fargo Center offices yesterday to help promote the upcoming show he is starring in: Sesame Street Live - Elmo's Healthy Heroes.

The show will be playing Sept. 24 - 26 at the Wells Fargo Center and throughout the day Bert was busy making phone calls and creating flyers to promote the show.

Wachovia Center is now Wells Fargo Center

If you have driven down I-95 lately, you may have noticed that the lettering on the arena the Philadelphia 76ers, Flyers and Wings call home has changed. What used to say "Wachovia Center" has been replaced with "Wells Fargo Center," the official new name of the venue.

In addition to the signage on the outside of the building, all social media and online presences have also been changed to reflect the new venue name.

The newly named "What's Happening at the Wells Fargo Center" blog will continue to provide you with news and information related to upcoming sports, concerts and family events at the arena.

Iguodala Named to USA World Championship Team

The Philadelphia 76ers' own Andre Iguodala has been named to the 12-man USA roster to represent the country at the 2010 FIBA World Championship, according to a press release issued by the Sixers this afternoon.

“It is an honor to not only represent my country, but also the 76ers organization and the city of Philadelphia during the World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey,” Iguodala said. “I am truly looking forward to this experience as we continue our quest to bring home the gold medal for the United States.”

Curious George Monkeys Around at the Philadelphia Zoo

Before Curious George swings into the Wachovia Center on August 20-21, he will be making an appearance at the Philadelphia Zoo on Wednesday, July 28th.

During his visit a zookeeper will speak to visitors about the spider monkeys that call the zoo home, followed by a book reading of "Curious George Goes to the Zoo", which will be read by one of the zoo’s educational staff members. Curious George will be interacting with the kids who are present, as well as playing along with the reading of the book.
